The Minutes of the General Purposes Sub Committee meeting held on Tuesday 18th October 2011 were agreed.

4. Matters Arising:

All Clubs that had applied for funding under the provisions of the Sport Stockport Club Development Fund had now paid their affiliation fee apart from West Heaton but this was reportedly 'in the post'.

The application from Bramhall Tennis Club should read Bramhall Park Lawn Tennis Club.

The Chair congratulated and welcomed John Hargreaves to the meeting as the new Chair of Sport Stockport.

JS reported that the sponsorship monies due from Adidas and SMBC were still awaited.

ID agreed to obtain the criteria required to allocate 'community usage' for Woodley Sports

5. Website:

There are currently 164 clubs registered on the website.

JS reported difficulties in updating the records of existing Clubs. A discussion took place suggesting various options.

CW to raise the issue with Graeme Draper.

ID to obtain a list of 'sporting activities' to update the drop down pick list as not all activities were listed.

It was agreed that commercial companies could be included on the 'link' tab.

6. Sport Stockport Initiatives:

74 clubs are currently registered for 'Clubmark' and 21 are working towards achieving the standard. Some clubs are now working towards re-accreditation as the status only applies for 3 years.

The 'get coaching fund' has allocated £9,723 which has enabled 94 people to access Level 1 and 2 courses.

103 people have accessed the cpd courses. £3,025 allocated to date.

There are 3 more workshops arranged in the near future and there is a likelihood of additional funding being obtained  due to an overall under spend in Greater Manchester.

Due to the withdrawal of 'get coaching' funding from March 2012 a decision will need to be made on how 2012 funding is allocated between 'get coaching' and 'club development'.

ID to provide a breakdown of the 'get coaching' bursaries to see who is accessing the funding.

7. Stockport Sports Trust - Outcome 6:

JS had attended a meeting on 30th October 2011 and circulated the minutes. (Minutes on website)

In the hope of attracting more attendees from the clubs the next meeting will be held during the evening in January. Details to be confirmed.

Stockport Sports Trust has been re branded 'Life Leisure' and a new website is under development

8. Club Development Fund Applications:

Applications were received as follows:

DASH Athletics  - all criteria met - affiliation fee being paid. The club are looking to develop a satellite club in Marple.   Award of £400 approved.

Cheadle Kingsway Sports Club  - all criteria met. Require funding to purchase a 'playing cricket cage' to further develop junior practice sessions.  Number of beneficiaries around 200 people. Total cost of the project including coaching fees is £1,100. Award of £400 approved.

9. Active Stockport Alliance:

BH reported that due to cuts in local authority spending Alliance will now become a 'virtual group'. i.e. meeting via the internet

10. Any Other Business:

JS reported that Stockport Gymnastics Club was applying for planning permission to move their facility to Newby Road, Hazel Grove and had asked for support from Sport Stockport. JS had sent a supporting statement to the Planning Dept. on behalf of the Group and RL intended to attend the planning meeting to offer support.

A question was raised about the change of name of Stockport Sports Trust to Life Leisure. ID gave background information.

ID reported that 2 of our winners of the Stockport Sports Awards had been achieved success at the Greater Manchester Awards.

Richard Blackshaw - Coach of the Year

James Goddard - Achiever of the Year.

JonH queried how we might raise awareness of Sport Stockport. It was advised that we have 2 banners that can be used at any event and these should be used more frequently including workshops.

BH to enquire about obtaining extra banners

Need to encourage 'good news' stories for inclusion on the website

Arrange themed workshops on a quarterly basis after Xmas.

ID to prepare a list of topics that could form the basis of the workshops - to be discussed at the next meeting.

11. Next Meeting:

If need arises the next meeting can be a 'virtual meeting' during December but the next Sub Committee meeting will be Tuesday 17th January 2012 at Hazel Grove Bowling & Tennis Club commencing at 7.30 p.m.

The meeting closed at 9.15 p.m.
