3.       Minutes: The minutes of the General Purposes Sub Committee held on Tuesday 15th February 2011 at Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club were accepted as a true record.

4.       Matters arising:

LM agreed to represent Sport Stockport at future meetings of the Active Stockport Alliance if BH is unable to attend.

5.       Sports Awards 2011:

It was agreed that we need to engage the public more and get the media on board (i.e. Imagine FM and the Stockport Express). It was agreed that there may need to be a change of venue and a revised date needs to be established. The schools have expressed an interest in participating with their own awards.

The ‘Awards Assessment Panel’ would consist of DS and JS from Sport Stockport and three members of Stockport Sports Trust. CW volunteered to act as a reserve for the Assessment Panel if required.

It was agreed that any trophies that we currently present can be incorporated with the    Greater Manchester Awards categories. There is a need to clarify the categories and allocate appropriate awards to them.

With regards to the Awards Dinner the following action is required:

           BH to contact the Deanwater

LM to contact Edgeley Park, Bredbury Hall and the Britannia.

We are looking for a venue of up to 200 people LM to approach media.

DS, JS, ID and LM to hold a pre meeting at 6.45 p.m. on 19th April to discuss the above issues.

6.       Website:

There are currently 158 clubs registered on the website, several news items have been received from clubs and organisations and published on the site.

A discussion was held about the incorporation of the ‘Clubmark’ logo against qualifying clubs held on the database. It was felt that this would place an onus on Sport Stockport to ensure that the data was kept up to date and may give incorrect information about clubs that fail to renew their ‘Clubmark’ status.

7.       Sport Stockport initiatives:

ID confirmed that the ‘get coaching’ funding has been confirmed for the next financial year. This will enable clubs to access funding for NGB level 1 & 2 courses. ID has undertaken a survey of clubs registered on the website and received 51 responses 42 of which were from Sport Stockport affiliated clubs. 41% of respondees considered that £10.00 was a reasonable cost for future affiliation fees.

8.       Stockport Sports Trust – Outcome 6:

JS reported on attendance at the Outcome 6 meeting. It was stated that along with other ‘Outcome Groups’ the remit was in need of review due the change in circumstances introduced as a result of the budget reductions in local authority spending. It is possible that some ‘Outcomes’ may be combined due to the loss of some of the participants.

9.       Club Development applications:

Prior to the meeting there had been 21 awards made.

Stockport Georgians Cricket Club – all criteria met - require part funding for coaching courses and purchase of coaching equipment. Overall cost £900 agreed award of £400.

Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club – all criteria met – require part funding for the purchase of bowling and tennis equipment for junior development. Overall cost £450 agreed award of £400.

10.   Active Stockport Alliance:

BH had been unable to attend due to business commitments. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 27th April at 2.00 p.m. – Conference Room 1, Century House. ID to attend if BH not available.

11.   Any other business:

BH reported on attending an ‘Outcome 5’ meeting from which it was evident the same people are attending different ‘Outcome’ panels. It was queried whether this was the best use of peoples time. There will not be a lack of focus on what the Plan is set to achieve but possibly an option for amalgamating some of the actions. The ‘comprehensive spending review’ is limiting the scope of some outcomes due to lack of clarity over available funding.

YS reported that no bowling greens are planned for closure this year.

JS reported that the AGM has been fixed for Thursday 12th May 2011 at Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club.

12.   Date of next meeting:

Tuesday 19th April 2011 at Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club commencing at 7.30 p.m.

The meeting closed at 9.32 p.m.
