3. Minutes:

The minutes of the General Purposes Sub Committee Meeting held on Thursday 14th July 2008 were agreed as a true record.

4. Matters arising:

YS reported on the Junior Bowling Competition held at Alexandra Park. It had been a good week with reasonable weather, the standard of junior play had been excellent and BH presented the Sport Stockport trophy to the winner.

YS also reported that the senior competition has now been accepted as a qualifier for the Waterloo.

5. Secretary's Report:

Nothing to report that was not contained elsewhere on the agenda.

6. Treasurer's Report:

Nothing to report

7. Stockport Sport Development Community Fund:

JS reported that all groups had received their cheques. A letter had been received from Tony Bryning (Chair Bowls Development Group) expressing thanks for the award and outlining what had been achieved as a result.

8. Sport Stockport Executive Meeting:

JS reported on the Executive Meeting held on the 24th September and incorporated the upadte for SPAA and the Sports Trust.

9. Website:

A discussion was held on the content of the website which had not gone live as originally hoped by 31st August. JS advised of the difficulty being experienced in writing the introductory pages particularly as the aims and objectives of Sport Stockport were not clear.

A discussion ensued on the viability of Sport Stockport and whether there was a continuing role for the organisation. It was considered that many of the tasks originally undertaken by the former Sports Couincil had now been superceded by developments within SMBC and the Sports Trust.

It was agreed to hold a further meeting in the near future to have a more detailed discussion on this topic when more delegates would be able to attend.

10. Any Other Business:

A question was raised on what constituted the South Manchester Sports Club as advertised in the Stockport Active Leisure Guide. Action JS to contact SMBC.

11. Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday 28th October 2008 at Hazel Grove Bowling and Tennis Club.

The meeting closed at 9:35 p.m.
